About

Our Start

The Mounds View Mountain Bike Team started in 2012 with nine kids and three coaches. After initially being a part of the Roseville Composite Team, Mounds View became its own team in 2019, representing teams from the Mounds View School District who will or eventually will attend Mounds View or Irondale High Schools and Totino Grace. We are governed by the Minnesota Cycling Association and race in their races. In 2024, Mounds View Bike Team had over 80 riders and 30 coaches.

Mission, Core Values and Goals

Mountain Bike Season

Our season runs July - October. We practice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Races are on Saturdays and Sundays beginning at the end of August through mid October.

Early Season

Starting in early July, we begin our season. This first part of the  season focuses on team building, general bike skills, relationships, enjoyment of cycling, and is fluid.  Riders are placed into one of four ride groups with a lead coach and assistant coaches assigned to each group to support them.

Late Season

Starting in September, practices will be formatted to prepare for the competitive aspects and events of the Minnesota Cycling Association. It still embodies the values and goals of the early season but is structured more like a traditional high school sport in the context of competitive events with other students/schools.

Late season  continues with the group model, however kids may  be placed into even smaller ride groups which are based on ability and goals. .Students will have a structured curriculum developed by the head coaches and implemented individually by the their leader.
